Lately, I've been reading a mistery series from MC Beaton. The Agatha Raisin misteries.
Agatha is retire in the English country and tends to get herself wrapped up in village misteries. This character is so insecure that sometimes she comes across as mean and brusk. If she was your friend, you'd shake your head and say, oh Agatha, why did you say that?
Deep down, she just wants to feel wanted and maybe a bit popular.
MC Beaton also writes the Hamish Macbeth misteries.
